This is part of the new breed of graphic novels that really shows the shifting emotions of pre-teens and how important each of them is. Thing is, as adults, we often ignore them or try to give some advice based on our experiences. As a parent, you know the blank stares when this happens. I think any kid going through the transitions of puberty, both physical and emotional, is going to very much resonate with this book and return to it to find comfort in knowing they’re not alone. In addition, themes of figuring out who you are when the only box to check is “other” are explored, but done so by hiding the veggies with engaging characters and a fun story.
