So creative. Underneath, it’s all about overcoming trauma and getting to the true source of your pain so that you can confront it and move on. Beyond the lesson though, the story is wrapped in this super creative, slightly dark, but totally fun adventure where a kid goes into other people’s nightmares and helps to battle whatever is haunting them. If your kids like fantasy and adventure but don’t like ultra-violence, let Maxwell into your dreams and have at it. Think inception but for kids. I love how this book gets into what the underlying causes of pain are but does it in a way that will appeal to kids without being preachy. Here’s one for the goth kids and thrill seekers out there.
