A Kid Like Me

Sometimes books have this special magic that carries kids from page to page, like a gentle hand taking them through a rough journey. A Kid Like Me for sure has that feel. It’s nice to see a book with a boy as the main character that’s sensitive and not afraid to express his feelings despite the crushing peer pressure around him. Even though the book explores class divisions that exist because of how much money families have, it does not preach. Kids will be left to draw their own conclusions on these characters who will end up surprising you in the end. This book has been on reread since it entered our house and I have a feeling that’s not going to end anytime soon. Truly remarkable in scope and the ability to put everything into one book that does not drag one bit.
