A perfect graphic novel for kids who like their middle school drama without the intensity of major dating or bullying or mean girls. I loved how it showed you the inner-monologue of the insecurity that girls face when it comes to what their wearing or how their hair is styled. Perhaps parents are too dismissive of that, but reading this, it brings you back to what it means inside of the person it’s happening to. Also, the group of friends are the kind of kids you want your kids to look for, so the read is very aspirational in that way. If they are just starting their own independent reading at 9, it’s a great transition book.
