There are a ton of books about anxiety and what kids are feeling, but I can’t think of many that pull the reader so deep into the pages with such complex characters and a fantastic story that keeps the pages turning. Throw in the real story immigrant families face when coming to this country for the first time, middle school drama, and the braveness of the main character to battle her inner demons, Living with Viola is one of those rare books that entertains as much as it teaches. Oh, and the art work is a dream come to life. How she got so much emotion out of each stroke is truly remarkable. Classic.
