We started reading this to her when she was 4 and it became such a favorite it carried over to bedtimes at 6 and then became a self-reader at 7. Fun story with surfing and failure and danger and injury and, finally, confidence. Great for those who are looking for a little adventure in their reading life. Good to read in the winter when you’re having dreams of summer (and trying not to be afraid of the water).
